Jeffrey C. Irving Announced As 2023 Section E9 Legacy Fellow
We are delighted to announce that Jeffrey C. Irving has been named the recipient of the 2023 Section E9 Legacy Fellowship! This recognition honors Jeff’s remarkable and enduring contributions to the Boy Scouts of America in Virginia, as well as his unwavering dedication to upholding the values of the Order of the Arrow.
Jeff has been an active volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America in the Commonwealth for over 50 years and has demonstrated exceptional servant leadership skills throughout his tenure. His unwavering commitment to service and his dedication to helping others have made him an invaluable member of our community. Jeff served as the Southern Region Area 7 Camp Accreditation Chair for 15 years and, since the BSA restructuring, now serves as the National Service Territory 15 Camp Accreditation Coordinator, whose territory covers 19 councils across Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Jeff also served as Blue Heron Lodge Adviser in the early 1980s, attended or staffed 10 National Scout Jamborees, and organized 16 eight-day wilderness high adventure canoe trips in Maine. Recently, after holding the position for approximately 40 years, Jeff stepped down from his role as adviser to the Blue Heron Lodge Food Service Committee. While in this role, Jeff built a team of talented cooks who now volunteer for Scouting events across the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position is what Jeff is most known for and has made him renowned in the Order of the Arrow community.
The Section E9 Legacy Fellowship is awarded annually to one individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to service within the Section E9 Scouting community. We are proud to recognize Jeff’s contributions over the course of half a century.
Please join us in congratulating Jeff on this well-deserved honor!
