Conclave 2014 Participant Update
Dear SR-7A Conclave Participant:
The big event is nearly here! This Friday, Arrowmen from across the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond will converge on Camp Shenandoah for the 2014 SR-7A Conclave. With over 1,050 Arrowmen registered, the 2014 Conclave will be the best attended Conclave in Section 7A’s history!
Here are a few last-minute announcements and reminders as you prepare for Conclave:
Directions: Camp Shenandoah is located at 222 Boy Scout Lane; Swoope, VA 24479. For online directions, please click HERE.
Be Prepared: The weather can be cool in the mountains of Virginia (overnight temperatures at Camp Shenandoah are forecast to be in the 40s this weekend) and Conclave is held rain or shine. When packing, make certain that you will be prepared no matter what the weather holds. Also, all Arrowmen are invited to bring a folding camp chair as the Saturday night Show will be held in a location without seating. Finally, be aware that cellular service at Camp Shenandoah is spotty or non-existent (depending on your provider). Be prepared for a weekend without mobile telephone or data access. In case of emergencies only, the camp may be contacted at 540-886-7513. This number is not to be used for welfare checks or general communications.
Bring Your Own Tent: Only a small number of canvas wall tents will be available in the campsites the lodges will be using. Arrowmen are asked to give priority access to the canvas wall tents to those with medical conditions and/or older Scouters. All other Arrowmen should bring your own tent to Conclave.
Arrival and Check-in: Gear transportation and onsite check-in will begin at 3:00 pm on Friday. Upon arrival at Camp Shenandoah, you will drop off your gear near the camp entrance for delivery to your lodge’s campsite. Please label gear with your name and lodge information. After parking in the designated parking area (no vehicles will be allowed in campsites), you will be directed to the Registration Tent (near the Parade Field) at which time you will check-in and receive your packet, Conclave Passport, and patch. The Registration Tent will be open from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm. If you arrive after 10:00 pm, check-in with your lodge at the lodge’s campsite.
Friday Night Meals: A light dinner will be served on the Friday night in the Dining Hall from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and there will be a Crackerbarrel at 9:30 pm.
